"Aum Dojo" - The meaning behind the Name
The name "AUM" has profound meanings in Hindu and Judaism alike.
The "AUM" in Hindu Tradition
In the Far East Traditions, the "Aum"
(also known as OM), is
the most sacred symbol of Hindu Dharma.
It is considered as the sound of god ("Brahman" - the Infinite and the
Ultimate Reality), and as the first sound it used for the creation of the world.
The "Aum" is considered as the essence and the highest of all Mantras and divine
words.
The sound and form of
the "Aum" represents the Infinite itself and the entire universe.
The letters also represent the Trinity of god in Hindu Dharma and the three
planes of existence:
A - The Creation; Face of God - "Brahma"; Plane of existence - Heaven ("Swarga")
U - The Preservation; Face of God - "Vishnu"; Plane of existence - Earth
("Martya")
M - The Destruction / Dissolution; Face of God - "Shiva"; Plane of
existence - Netherworld ("Patala")
The "Aum" also represents the four levels of consciousness.
A - Waking
U - Dreaming
M - Deep Sleep
The Fourth level is represented by the sound of AUM when repeatedly said.
It is the silent presence between the ending of one sound of AUM and the
beginning of the other. It is the silent presence which exists in all and
enables everything.
The levels of consciousness and awareness are represented in the symbol of the "AUM" (there are many shapes and versions to that symbol, this is only one...)

The "AUM" in Judaism Tradition
In the "Kabala", the secret and sacred
tradition, which stands as the heart and soul of Judaism, the parallel Hebrew
letters to "A.U.M", comprise one of the "72 names of god".
The "72 names of god" are not names in their literal
meaning, but in fact 3 letters combinations in Hebrew, which posses special and
unique powers.
Legend has it that Moses had received those special sequences at the "Burning
bush", and that he used them along with the "Children of Israel" for the parting
of the Red-Sea, when fleeing Pharaoh and the Egyptian army.
The Hebrew letters and
their combinations are considered by the "Kabala" as powerful instruments. The
meaning and the translation of the word "letter" in Hebrew is also a sign, a
pulse, a vibration.
Each of the three letters (in each triad) represent a spiritual force and a
"charge". One letter bears the positive charge, another the negative charge and
one as a grounding vessel. Altogether, the letters in each triad are forming an
energy "spark" and earthing it.
According to the "Kabala", those special sequences posses the powers to purify
our hearts and to cleanse our souls from fears and anxiety, thus bring us closer
to our creator and to our fellow men.
This concept brings the Hebrew Alphabet to something which transcends the
barriers of religions, races or even languages - it is for all mankind.
The "72 Names" are in
fact encoded in 3 verses in the book of Exodus. The 3 verses which tell the
miraculous story of the parting and crossing of the Red Sea (Exodus, 14, verses
19-21).
The letters triads are derived by taking the first letter (right to left) from
verse 19, the last letter (left to right) from verse 20 and the first letter
(right to left) from verse 21 - "narrowing down" towards the center.
The triads are then presented in a chart like matrix arranged as follows - top
right (first combination), then left wise and descending downward - the last
combination being the bottom one on the left.
The
combination in
the
Hebrew letters "
à.å.í "
(reading right to left), stands for the English letters A.U.M
(reading left to right).
This specific sequence of letters represents
a "bridge" - the connection between Spirit and Matter, between
people and cultures - a sign for Unity.
The combination of "AUM" in the HEBREW letters "à.å.í" is shown in the chart below, marked in red (third column from the left, forth one from the top):

The Insignia of the Dojo
The
spirit of the Dojo is unity
and it is manifested
in our Insignia. The insignia is derived from the sign which is commonly known as
the "Star of David".
Our symbol is
made out of two triangles
opposite each other in color and direction, representing the two opposite worlds
- Heaven and Earth.
The triangles are unifying in a
roundabout motion at the center of the captured space, the space
which represents life itself.
Knowing how to unit the upper spiritual
world with the world of matter below, means to live life to the fullest –
experiencing Heaven on Earth.
